The Task List feature provides a simple but effective way to manage and track tasks directly within Excel. With a Task Pane opening on the right side of your Excel, this tool helps you stay organized by allowing you to create, manage, and export tasks.
How to Use the Task List
- Click on the Task List button to open a Task Pane on the right side of your Excel window.
- Managing Tasks
- Enter the task name/description and the due date for your task by selecting the date from a calendar or manually typing in the date.
- Click the Add button to save the task with the corresponding due date and the tasks will be shown in the list.
- Click the Delete button to remove any selected task from the list with a confirmation dialog.
- Viewing Tasks
- The Task Pane displays a list of all added tasks in the below format
Task Name – Due Date
Example: Task 1 – 01-January-2025
- This will allow you to easily review all tasks with their due dates.
- Exporting Tasks
- The Export button will create a new workbook containing all the tasks with their Task Description and Due Date.
- This is useful for reporting, tracking or sharing tasks with others.
- Notifications for Due Tasks
The next time when you click on the Task List button, a pop-up will appear if any tasks are due for the current date to notify you.
How to Use the Task List in Your Workflow
- Task Management: Keep track of your tasks by creating your task name/description and setting the due date for each task.
- Daily Reminders: With the help of pop-up notifications, you can easily and quickly see if any tasks are due for the current day, preventing you from missing important deadlines.
- Tasks Exporting: Export your tasks to a new workbook to share with others, keep track of long-term projects, or create a weekly/daily task report.
